    Hi Everyone

Ever since ive had the car the washer jets have not been working but this wasnt so much a problem back then however now that im doing loads of motorway miles and the weather is getting worse i need to sort this out...

Any ideas as to what the first point of call would be?

I will suggest a trip to the dealer or at least a call to them to get a quote on parts etc. The reason I mention the dealer is that you could end up spending money on parts through a 3rd party that you may end up not needing. Best to be safe than sorry.

Does the rear washer work?,because on some cars the same pump is used for the front and rear,if so it could be a stuck one-way valve. Someone else on here will tell you if it has 2or1 pumps for sure.

Does the motor pump run at all? you should be ablt to hear it. If it does then the filter in the bottle is blocked. I have no-idea how to clean it but VX charge about £20 for this

I would start as above, with can you hear the pump working at all? Then I would disconnect the washer pipe and blow through it to make sure there is not a blockage in the pipe. The filter on the pump could be blocked with gunk. I bit of methodical testing may pin point the issue. Just checked on mine, it is a single pump and is accessed from under the front left corner of the bumper. Easy to get to.

i had the same prob when i bought the car easy to sort all you have to do is remove the inner arch protector enough so you can see the bottom of the washer bottle then romove the pump and drain the bottle and flush out a couple of times then flush the pump out with clean water and that should sort it out i bet the bottom of your washer bottle will be full of grean slime as mines was

It;s usually a small blockage were the pump plugs into the water bottle.

there's a rubber grommet/fliter which gets clogged up.

Remove and cut the bottom off it...works a treat thereafter.

I had this problem a few months back. you can check whether its the pump or the tubing, by going under the front passenger wheel arch, and removing the tubing from the pump. If you have an automatic wheel pump, connect it up to the end of one of the tubes and turn it on. This will force compressed air into the tube and if it's clear it will spray whatever is in the tube onto your windscreen. If the tube is blocked, it will either force it clear, or the tube will just blow off the end of the compressor. But at least you'll know.

It did it on mine few months back, and one of the tubes was blocked on mine, so it just flew off the end of the compressor at first, then figured out it was the rear tube, so took the roof lining out of the car and disconnected it half way down, and a rubber grip that was supposted to hold the two end together had gone inside the tube and blocked it. Simple to sort out, and saved taking to garage.
