M -Tec 501 Sidelight Bulbs

So, there I was driving home this evening, as is starts to get dull, I put on my sidelights. I was following a copper for about half a mile, and he puts the blue lights on and slows down. I pass him, he then follows me and pulls me over. Told me it was a routine stop, and proceeded to check my tax disc, tyres, insurance, MOT, brake lights, tail lights, number plate lights, indicators, etc

He then pointed out that my sidelights were a little blue, and were illegal. I am running M Tec 501 bulbs. I thought these were legal . I've had these in my sidelights, number plate lights, and interior light for months with no problems

He said to put normal sidelights back in when I get home, which I have just done. However, he did not give me a producer, or anything, and sent me on my way.

Has anyone else had issues with M Tech 501's ?

Yes. No other light about, on the drive at home.

these have gotta be the brightest side lights ive ever seen.....would you recommend them then.....even tho the police pulled you for them?

I've heard of MOT stations filing cars for them. I feel they re not bright enough by far. But colour,.. hmmm not sure bout tht one

Agree. But they can hardly be seen in daytime!

I've had no probs before. Not had an MOT with them yet. MOT due next month, but gonna have normal bulbs in for it
