Default CDTI - carb cleaning exercise 020911

    Hi

I'm going to attempt to clean my EGR out tomorrow without taking it off. I've read on the forum that this can be done (maybe not as effective, but im not having any symptoms at the moment) by spraying carb cleaner into the air intake.

I understand its not advisable to spray it so it goes through the MAF sensor - has anybody got any pictures to show me exactly where I need to spray it?

    Thanks for any help/advice

    J

Just take it off buddy, It's not that hard! I was a worried about trying it myself to but its really easy. An hour or 2 and it will be cleaned and fitted again

Spray it in after the connector that sits in the intake pipe. Its got a wiring block going to it.

It won't really do much to clean the EGR using the spray as it is a negative pressure zone so doesn't draw the air into the chamber. The only truly effective method is the very simple removal, 4 x 10mm bolt / nut's and 2 x 13mm bolts

Don't worry about it! Just make sure you don't drop the torxbits down the engine spent more time trying to get it out than cleaning and refitting egr
