Default What does your Vectra or Signum mean to you?

Why do you have your Vec-C or Signum? Is it a work horse, every day car, showpiece or a combination of all three?

When do mods is it purely for style and power regardless of the impracticality or do you always think your mods through before carrying them out?

For me I bought my Vec after writing off a Ford Maverick (new style). I'd never planned to have a Vec but as soon as I saw mine I was smitten...especially as it already had the irmy boot spoiler fitted. When doing further mods I decided I wanted to make it look good as possible but it still needed to be able to travel long distances and be able to tow.

Thats the reason I only dropped it 15mm and fitted 18's. Its also the reason my rear splitter has a flap in it for the towbar

Mines was based on a growing family (lil baby girl and 2large dogs) and it being inpractical to fit them all in a stunnin (always be my 1st love) WHite astra 3door sri. Now with mods. mainly look at cost haha but am looking to get serious with performance hopefully after a wee trip back to afghan, But for now mainly cosmetic inside as its quite easy to do and cheap aswell. although mods coming up this month HOPEFULLYare the window tints and lowering 30 maybe 45mm

Bought my Signum because I wanted to get back to having a blown 2 litre transverse engine (which would obviously be inline rather than v-configuration). Having owned a V6 Omega before it, I was tired of lack of torque, and every little engine maintenance job taking stupidly long because of the crap design and engineering. Plus there was little you could do to mod the Omega. I chose the Signum over the Vectra because I didn't want to lose rear legroom compared to the Omega (its only asset IMHO), and I gambled that I would be able to easily/cheaply convert it to a proper 5 seater (although after I bought it and started to look for conversions, I was shocked no one else had done it yet).

One of the things I like about modding the Signum is that you can easily get rid of many of the negatives. Not fast enough? Remap it. Brakes ineffective? Fit bigger calipers from a 9-3 Aero. Headlights poor? HID kit. Looks too restrained? Fit big chrome exhausts and colour code the rear skirt. Etc etc etc.

I've always had Alfas and Lancia before my Vectras. I wanted the space initially, never (and still don't) like the lesser models, but the SRI is bang on with looks and equipment. Now on diesel it's for the economy and practicality. I was all set to get an insignia, but I'm just not happy with the economy of the new car. It SHOULD be better, not worse!!
So now, I'm on the look for my third Vec C in the form of a silver lightning XP2 CDTI 150

My 2002 2.0DTi LS Vectra is a bit of all three, use it everyday, carries the Massage bed or work stuff and is slowly being modified as funds allow. Also a bit of sentimental value, see below.
Originally my granny's (after she gloriously wrote off her 96 CD 1.8 Auto, (took out a Passat too)), I hated the look of it because the previous one was more sleek looking and this was cumbersome and bland. But over the years I ended up taking car of it and doing wee bits to it for her, and my liking increased.
Best feature of the car is that it looks chunky and substantial.
March last year she gave me it, when she decided it was time to downsize.
We decided on an Astra Club 1.7CDTi as it was BASIC and similar inside to the Vectra (easy to get used to).
We went to the nearest dealers and there were no Astra diesels, but something did catch her eye and she went for it..........

Corsa SXi 1.3CDTi 90 5Dr in Star Silver with option Tech Pack (Climate, Cruise and Trip Computer)

Gotta love a woman at 85 who's rallying about in that.

I bought mine because i outgrew my wee polo I was looking for a 3series bm for a while but hadnt found a decent one, then turned up at a garage to look at one and loved the look of the vec! So had to have it! Then the modding started and it is where it is today! A daily workhorse and im putting a fair few miles on it but it (IMO) looks great and it still puts a smile on my face everytime i drive it!
