Default Got £1000 to spend on repairs, what do you suggest?

Need my cambelt, waterpump, alternator belt, both CV joints replacing. I also need my brakes checked over as when my mate done them for me I have nothing but squealing! I get a slight whining noise when driving sometimes but don't know if that's the pads on the discs, but if not, could mean new bearings!

I know the saying "if it's not broke, don't fix it" will probably come to your mind, but I want this car to last.

We have a baby on the way and I want to try and eliminate any near future problems by fixing it now while I have this money.

Do you recommend I ask the garage to look at/replace anything else that is likely to break while it's in their hands?

Bought a blanking plate for my EGR waiting for it to be delivered, do you think it's worth a new intake manifold while they are doing the cambelt? I know it's all crudded up from when I cleaned my throttle body! How much am I looking for intake and labour?

    Thanks guys!

    It's a 1.9CDTi 150 55 plate, done 83,000 miles!

Everyone wants their cars to last. Get done what needs doing, leave the rest. Open up a bank acount and stick the money in it and just use it as a car account for repairs etc. As you've said in your post, if its not broke dont fix it.

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

Droning could be down to tyres mate. Brakes probably just need a bit off copper slip on back an bit of a clean up.

Autovaux in Birkenhead are usually pretty switched on. And will probably give you a good price for cam belt change.
