This is a rotary, If you are a beginner then you could start with this, but it is suggested you practice with it on a scrap panel first as it is possible you could burn through your paint if you do not know what your doing.

pmsl
Never used one or a grinder but surly can't be hard if slow speed and don't stay one place
You can pick up some pretty cheap DAS 6 now. That is very beginner proof and works very well, I think taff's post with the 10Hr correction was with a DAS6.

Or this complete with polish that will do the job.

Cheers fella they easy to use and won't kill the paint a looked on eBay and all am getting is magiurs and there over 200 pound :0
I think the second option is the best to get up and go with it. Easy to use, but do some reading of the threads I posted before on how to use it, It is not just a case of add polish and go, the benefit of using a DA is that unless you hold the pad in the same place for a long period of time you wont go through the paint. The new megs G220 V2 is a very good piece of kit however as you say it is quite expensive, but you can acheive the results you want with a DAS6.
