    confused Z22YH Regulator?

    2004 Vectra-C estate with Z22YH engine and 66,000mls

After a journey of 100miles did 5 or 6 stop/starts in rapid succession. On the next attempt on starting the engine stopped as soon as car attempted to drive forward. Repeated this 5 times.

Disconnected battery and left for 30mins. Car started fine but engine management light was on.

3 fault codes were recorded -
    1) P1191-52 fuel pressure system malfunction
    2) P1112-61 swirl flap stuck
    3) P0301-01 cylinder one misfire detected

Codes were then deleted and after 40miles only 1 fault code reappeared - P1112

    Vehicle history -
16,000miles (2yrs ago) - high pressure fuel pump replaced with branded continental, fuel regulator and filter also replaced. New regulator was later checked as part of Vauxhall recall.

There are a number of entries on the site about the swirl valve and I will clean it up.

BUT...do I ignore the P1191 and P0301 faults unless they reoccur or does the P1191 indicate possible failure of the regulator which should therefore best be replaced?

    Thanks, Dave

yes ignore p1191 until it comes back.. the 1191 is one of 4 errors.. (tha -52 idicates it abit more precise), but fuelpressure sensor, fuelpressure regulator, high pressure pump, or intank pump.

if it comes bare and become more and more regular it returns, then its either Regulator or Sensor.. you can replace those your self.. takes about 10 minutes.

With reference to the(my) first post on this thread.

For three days of several short journeys car was absolutely fine but again after a longer journey (just over 100 miles) the car refused to start after a short 10 minute stop.

Going to fit new regulator. (a bit off after on only 16,000 miles.)
Could it be that the regulator fitted was not the modified one? Does anyone please know how to tell if it was?

The high pressure fuel pump fitted 16,000 miles ago was branded "Continental" which I understand was the modified pump. Has anyone had one of these go faulty?

    Thanks Dave

How long ago was the regulator fitted? if more than 6-8 months ago, it would not have been the revised one.

On the regulator there is stamped a producktiondate.. cant remember what it minimum should be..

Default Continental HP pump on Z22YH

No date stamp that I can see but the following numbers are stamped on the part.

    New regulator just fitted:-
    S-5375-04 84593
    GM 24404015
    TM 9030 040 11

    Regulator just removed:-
    S 5375-03 16213
    GM 24404015
    TM 6070 217 09

If the regulator just removed was faulty could it have caused damage to the High Pressure Pump? Or is the modified Pump (Continental) robust enough not to have been damaged.

    Thanks,
    Dave

No the fault on the regulator dont do anything to the high pressure pump, as the pump is the problems with the diaphrams..

The old regulator, looks to be the "old stock" as it should be above 26 09 i think to recall.

I had thought that the pump problem was caused by the faulty regulator?

    Aye.
However my regulator was also "checked" by my local dealer and it seems that he erroneously told me it was ok.

Very simple to check it yourself though. (refer to your Haynes manual on how to remove the regulator).
Kemp's earlier posting quotes a date from which the "new" regulator is stamped.

Very interestingly the "P1112-61 swirl flap stuck" has not re-appeared since I fitted the new regulator.
Previously it was recorded shortly after I cleared the error codes. Coincidence?

I'll confirm or otherwise in a couple of weeks if its still gone.
