strange warning light

got an unusual warning light this morn. looks like a building with a chimney the right side with a jagged line going through the middle. yellow at bottom and black above the line. it doesnt light up when you turn ignition key and i cant find the book to answer this myself. checked my sister astra book and this doesnt help either.

any ideas would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the "Coolant Level" warning light, you might just need to top up your water..

thanks mate, hope thats all. just never seen light before and coolant level doesnt look to bad. that was first thing i checked.

Yeah, that's the coolant indicator.

Used to get that when my radiator was slowly leaking due to the standard "rust along the plastic/metal join".

If your coolant level is consistent and ok when cool, I'd say it's likely to be a faulty sensor.
