Default How 2's for Air Con?

Anyone got any guides for the air con system for a Vectra C?

Had mine re gassed and it keeps hissing, checked and cant see any leaks, want to have a good look and dont want to pay a fortune at the garage!

    Cheers

    Mike

I think it is something best left to the pro's IMO.

If you have a leak you can get them to put a dye in the system to see where it is coming from. Got to be careful with that gas as it is illegal to vent it to atmosphere AFAIK.

But is it still working? My climate control hisses occasionally when I first start the engine, but in 5 years it's never been topped up and still blows icy cold when the temp control knob is turned down.

Its hardly cold at all, hisses one minute and then stops the next, really strange. It was brilliant when re gassed it, lasted for about 4 weeks and then started hissing.

Go to kwik fit - Their system will let you know if it's leaking, as it refills it. Plus they will put the dye in if it fails, to see where the leak is comming from. If it is leaking, then they won't charge you either. Worth a try.
I did this and the condensor bolts simply had come loose - a quick tighten and it's been OK for the last 9 months.
    It cost £48.

I doubt it will find a leak that takes 4 weeks for the refrigerant to escape.
