    Default Doggy brake pads?

    hi guys,

brought some new mintex rear pads for my cdti150. fitted them to the car wednesday and everything seemed ok. thursday went out in the car and the rear pads are squealing.

when i got home i checked them and the pads only seem to be making contact with half the disc surface.

when i fitted them i took the top and bottom edges off as you do when fitting new pads to used discs and put copper grease on them.

so i stripped them down again and the top and bottom of the pads aren't touching the lips on the discs so its not that and the grease is in all the right places but there still squealing for about the first 2/3 miles when cold and there not making full contact with the discs.

checked the calipers aswell and they move as they should and aren't sticking/binding.

discs surface seems smooth and the old pads where worn evenly.

been driving around with the handbrake on today to try and wear the pads into the discs seems to be working. but not sure if its the best way to sort the problem.

any advise would be greatly received.

    cheers guys.

Are they jamming in the guide rails at all, sometimes a bit of corrosion can cause em to stick.

cleaned them thoroughly when i charged them and copper greased them and its all 4 pads.

i've had them appart again today and it seems that slowly but shorly more of the pad is coming into contact with the discs. maybe a slightly badly made set of pads.

i'll keep monitoring them for the next 40/50 miles anyway. but its looking good.

    cheers though.

Had the same with a set not long ago. Some 'enthusiastic' braking helped them bed in nicely.

I've always coated mine in copper grease, backs and sliders and never had a problem with squeeking? The squeek is often a vibration fron the pad due to brake dust. I don't rate those anti vibration pads they slick on them.
