Might use them my self my 04 vec which I've only had 3 weeks is showing up more stone chips everytime I wash or polish it, think the garage I bought it from did a top job of masking a lot of them. Would be interested to hear anyone elses view on them.

seems like london inflation strikes again, because i've had two different chipsaway franchisees to look at the same scratch on the rear quarter panel (which is now gone) and they gave me varying prices, one was £150 plus vat, the other was £180 plus vat.

not the first time that i've heard good things about the price outside of london - and their work is always good. although the two that i saw couldn't guarantee matchig the silver lightning paint

After reading several threads on here, Chipsaway are coming out to quote me on Saturday for 1 small chip on the bonnet and 1 humungous gouge in my rear door. Size of a screw head and just bare metal, wish I caught the ****** that did it. has anyone used any other companies. After Harry's thread I want someone else to look at it.

On a related subject, m8 of mine parked his 55 plate Hyundai Coupe in a car park recently and returned to find it had been "keyed" down the passengers side twice from the front to the back. And a handwritten note left under the wiper saying "Next time, dont take up two spaces you wonker".

He had parked it far away from the entrance to the shopping centre he was going into, and there were no cars whatsoever anywhere near it at the time.

Upon returning to the car, he called the cops and they looked at the CCTV footage from the cameras there, eventually finding a white builders van that pulled up next to the car and did the dirty deed.

Cops say they dont think its worth following up???!!!!.

Suffice to say, the builder concerned, with his name on the side of the van, will be shortly getting a visit from a few "friends" of my m8.

    Probably a "covert visit".

He might find his "builders van" is in a bit of state in the next few days.

see if Car Medic operate in your area, they should be considerably cheaper than Chipsaway as they are unknown in comparison. Chipsaway reckon they have the monopoly on local repairs and charge accordingly in my experience.

I had ChipsAway on Stockport over to tidy up my 5 series.
    1) Sorted out all the stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet.
    2) Sanded the boot lid and resprayed it where a previous owner had superglued the badge back on and made a right mess.
    3) Sorted out half a dozen small chips around the car.
    4) Filled in the holes in the dash where a previous owner had screwed in a car kit.

Took the best part of a day in total.

It cost me £250 and got a free pot of paint and tiny brush for future stone chips.

The result was brilliant. I had a quote from my local bodyshop (do a lot of insurance work) and it came to >£500 to respray the bonnet and front bumper. Plus they wanted the car for 4 days to cure the paint.

    No contest for me.

I will be using him again, in the Spring, on the Veccy as its getting quite a few chips already.

The only problem I can see with Chipsaway is that its a franchise and one guy in one area can do a rubbish job and bring down the name for all of them.
