    Unhappy Engine management warning light just come on, help please.

    hi all , typical, had the car 3 days and the Engine management warning light has come on...The question i need answering is, do i have to take it to vx dealers only to have it read and cleared ..????

    depending on the car, try foot on brake and acc pedal, then ignition to postion 2, eml light starts to flash out the codes. if you do a search on here for pedal test the how2 should tell you more. works for my 2003 1.8

    being a 2.2 direct matey, good possibilty it could be code p1112, swirl flaps sticking, mines a 55 plate, 24,000 on the clock and had 2 replaced already, light is coming on again now, fitting a catch tank to eliminate the problem hopefully...

    Year : 2004

    Mileage : 137000

    Catch tank and EGR blanking on the 2.2 should eliminate it completely. PS the 2.2 petrol can easily be blanked with no warning lamps.

    wots a "catch tank" and do i take it to vx to do ? i have a 12 month gold warranty with the RAC, would this be covered ?

    yes matey, they will replace the inlet manifold to though as its quicker to replace than clean out... they did that with mine...
