Default Getting Insurance is hard work

Its that dreaded time of year again when my insurance is due and wallop it's come through at £750 so time to shop around...

Done all the go compare, money supermarket, aviva, direct line etc with the best coming in at £437 without declaring any modifications so thats a saving so far of £313!! Then I start thinking.... what if I get hit by another car and it goes to the body shop and they wont repair it because it's not standard and so declared the factory fitted irmscher kit, irmscher quad exhaust, AFL's, uprated brakes 345mm, 18" 11 spoke wheels just to cover my backside should the worst ever happen, lets face it there are some right dicks out there!! that took the best search engine prices to £547 with admiral.

Now to get on the phone
1st call Chris Knott (site sponcer) could not get anywhere near the £547 price which I found very disapointing
2nd gave Adrian flux a call £530 with unlimited mileage and all mods declared, but extra £156 a year to pay monthly!!
Then read about greenlight insurance and have done an online quote and just waiting for them to come back to me so fingers crossed they can better Adrian Flux to get my business or can someone can point me in the direction of a better deal??

    Cheers Macca

That car was with Adrian Flux till I sold it mate - they wanted over 700 quid to renew it. At the same time I replaced it with the Vectra and switched to Greenlight - 450 quid...

Thats what I hope they will quote me as that is what I was paying for my old Vectra 2.0 DTi SXi, happy'ish to pay £530 but hey if it's cheaper with greenlight then I will give them the greenlight

these insurance companies are a strange lot... they wont insure you if you wear odd socks and walk on the cracks in pavements

There was one stipulation with Adrian Flux and that was the car must be at home between 10pm and 6am unless traveling, so if you go out to the pub to meet friends you have to say 'sorry I have to take my car home now as it's getting late' bit embarrasing!!

Or they'll refuse point blank to insure you if you live in a high-risk area, even more so if your car is modified.

Seems to apply mostly to cities in the North of England.

Just reading a guy 44 years old, NCB, etc, refused insurance by Esure in the HD2 area due to "the high number of personal injury claims in that area". Not too far from me, but a general postal district like stating "HD2" covers from social housing to £2m houses.... your post code makes a huge difference... trouble is that the first part of the post code is very generic and can mean everyone in tarred with the same brush regardless of whether they are in a 'nice quiet place with the car garaged, etc.'
