can the 2.2 dti's egr be blanked off??

iv looked at a few threads and some say yes and the others say no..

can anyone definatley say wether it can be done or not?

i think this could be done but only where the inlet manifold meets the block
i have been eyeing this up for a while as i need to strip all down to give it a good clean

yeah mine needs cleaning but i cant get a good answer on how to block it off.
