Thumbs up How to reset EEPROM

    Hi all,

FYI Resetting EEPROM seemed to cure my CD70 NAVI of several problems.

    The problems I faced were:

Navi kept recalculating route, then just gave a spinning arrow whilst saying "please return to the planned route"

The radio kept losing all sound.

It made a hissy whinning sound even when the power was turned off.

Basically my CD70 had gone bonkers!!

I have seen resetting EEPROM on here but how to get to it was not clear, or to stupid me it wasn't!

    Try the following:

    Press MAIN

Then press and hold SETTINGS until a boing and a message stating "Test mode on"

Now press AUDIO (not BC) several times untill you come to a screen with check boxes - on this screen you will find the words "Reset EEPROM", use the selector wheel to highlight this, then press the wheel to confirm. Wait several seconds and you will hear a boing.

    Now press MAIN

Then press and hold SETTINGS until a boing and a message stating "Test mode off"

    Giving a fully functioning CD70

Hope this is of help to some of you!!

The CD70 may have a soft whine just after turning the engine off because...

    a) The laser sledges in the audio and navi CD drives, if in use will return to their home / park positions.

    b) also the CD70 has an in-built cooling fan, which is more active, and so will be more noticeable during the recent warm summer days.

Thanks for the information about your free fix... it is well worth knowing.

    Regarding test mode -

When you turn the ignition off, it will turn test mode off anyway

    Cheers Robsey

Nice to get a nod from the resident expert!!

My whinning/hissy noise was coming through all speakers, not the unit itself?

Have since found out that the wife kept trying different music CD's in the NAVI drive whilst on a girls day out - could this have caused it to go into a muddle??

    Rob,

Tell me about it, there was 5 of them in the car and not one thought it odd that:

    a) None of the several different CD's would work.

and b) that the current CD was still bleeding playing!!

I mentioned these points to her, to which she responded - "How was I supposed to know, it's well stupid that its got 2 slots"??????

I have had whining, crackling and poping from the speakers when I have fitted paired head-unit and display from a different vectra.

If yours is due to the wife putting the wrong disc in, then I would pull the car battery for a few hours... this will force a full system reset - including the radio and display.

usually clears 90% of glitches and gremlins.

your wife may have confused the eeprom... lol

As said earlier, resetting the EEPROM cured all the problems I was having. Including the noises.

    Thanks anyway.
