Default The difference between correction and polishing

I have started to upload all my photo's of jobs I have done to facebook. I just noticed the difference between a car I did last week and Nam's that I did today.
The first pic is an 09 car and the paint was in pretty good condition it was a quick enhancement, However have a look at the quality of the reflection compared to the correction on Nam's car. Correcting paint is the key to getting an awesome finish.

    Clean polished paint:

It could be mate, However today's light was poor, a lot worse than last week. But what I meant is the clarity of the reflection. It could be the light and the angle of the shot making the difference. I am a little annoyed with myself I did not take a picture straight on like I normally do.

Amazing... how long does a correction usually last? Or does it depend on how often the car is washed afterwards, and washing technique etc.?

I'd love to get my car proffesionally polished/corrected to remove all swirls and marks although I have no idea who does it around here, or howm uch it would cost for that matter

Once they're out, they are out, how long (like you say) depends on how the paint is looked after. Taking it to our Polish friends car washes, or in a Imo brush wash it wont last very long at all, but take care when washing it yourself then it can last a very long time.

I did mine almost a year to the day now, and it has precious little (virtually none) swirling now, but thats purely down to the care taken afterwards.

Cost can vary massively. There are a few on here that do it (myself, Ginge, Khalid, Bob, Taffy etc...), so dependant on where you are there is bound to be someone local to you that can assist

I theory mate, with good washing technique and the LSP topped up it could last as long as you have the car. When you correct the paint you remove the defects instead of covering them. However it is all to easy to put the swirls back into the car using poor washing technique or putting it through a car wash.

Thanks derek, it did come up really nice, but I have heard a little rumor that the new megs MF correction system has the capability of levelling the paint and removing an amount of orange peel, which is what can be seen if the last photo. It is on my shopping list for next month so will hopefully get to try it soon and report back.
