Default Wheel bearing, yes or no?

Iím looking for confirmation or rejection as to if it is the front drivers side wheel bearings. Iíve read up on here but I have been left in confusion.

    Symptoms

I call it a droning but she calls it roaring

It is movement related not engine related

There is little noise up to about 35mph and then it is deafening until about 45mph when it is silent as long as I accelerate, as soon as I decelerate the noise is deafening again reducing in volume (now more of a erm sound) until at rest.

    No alteration if turning

    Tried/looked at

I have swapped the wheels around Ė no difference

No movement 12/6 but a little 9/3 (but I think this is the track rod end)

The wheel spins freely with no grinding

The brakes are not binding and

I cannot see anything catching but to me it sounds as if something is?

Can it be anything else other than the bearing?

unfortunately the best way is take it to a mechanic, who will remove the wheels and see. then just order a bearing on ebay, or nip down the scrapyard (if funds are tight) and get one that'll do a while till you get some cash to get a new one.
I paid £70 for two at the local scrappy, only had 20-30k miles on them.

spin teh wheel and place your hand on the shock absorber stem, you shoud feel the roughness coming through it.

are you sure the noise is from the wheel ? I had a droning noise from my car when decellerating it ended up it was the planet gears in the g/box so had to get a replacement box .
dont want to scare you but its worst case scenario .
