    confused Overheating Z20NET? Help!

Wonder if anyone can help me shed any light on what's up with my Vectra 2.0T SRI?

About two weeks ago my engine began to over heat, heard what i thought was the water pump so stopped.

The car then went into Evans Halshaw, Horsforth for a new water pump fitting. (This in itself is a story to be told, but after 5 days later i got my car back with a new water pump)

Upon collecting the car from the main dealer, they told me that they had not started the car since fitting the new pump as they were unsure what damage had been done previously by the old pump, but they had put new coolant in.

Anyways on my way home the car again over heated after about 10 mins of driving.

Eventually after getting it home, i've changed the thermostat, tried bleeding the system to check for airlocks.

The car still over heats, i get no heat from the heater and my radiator never seems to heat up??

I'm out of ideas so anything that can be suggested will be tried!

    Thank you!

    Default Sorry forgot to add....

    Sorry forgot to add....

when i turn the engine off after it's reached about 95 degrees and the fans are kicking in; if i release the cap from the coolant bottle then the coolant backs up into the bottle and the radiator top then becomes very hot as if hot coolant is now flowing into it.

Again any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, if the engines been running and is warm i can see coolant coming out of the pipe that returns to the coolant bottle, (the small pipe at the top of the coolant bottle, that comes from the top of the engine).

The other small pipe which connects the radiator to the coolant bottle is always cold and i can;t see any fluid flowing from this one.

it seems you have some coolant flow then.. I would be tempted to take rad off and and tip out the crap and put a hose to it to try and flush it as my first thing.. I guess they did not show your old water pump so you could ascertain if the impeller broke apart..

I am not near my car right now to check the path of the coolant to see the pipe you refer to as being cold..

Cheers, that'll be my next step then. No I saw my old one and the impeller was ok, but not smooth at turning over.

My probs had started when the timing chain guide had broken.

It's all back together ok, but just won't stop overheating!

Thanks though, any further advice would be much appreciated.
