Default How do I work my Auto rain-sensing wipers?

Hello, im trying to get my rain sensing wipers to work.

I was under the impression that when I start the car, I simply push up once and leave it be.

So when I do this, the wipers wipe twice then stop, then they just seem to jump into intermittent mode and only wipe with quick intervals or long intervals, as per the control on the stalk. Am I missing something?

    Can someone please assist?

    Thanks.

If working, then its one press up (as you say) and that's it. The adjuster on the stalk is to alter the sensitivity (where on a car with no rain sensor, this would be to alter the intermittent frequency).

    Is it raining?

    What would stop this working?

Maybe the sensitivity is too low as its spitting

You 100% got the rain sensing wipers..?

best to test in the dry.. push up once and the wipers shouldn't move at all. Leave it for a bit then move the roller up a level, it should wipe once then stop again etc..

The way I thought it worked from playing about with mine, is that you press the stick upwards once, the wipers then wipe twice and stop. After that it'll sense the rain hitting the sensor behind the rear view mirror on the windscreen and adjust the speed automatically depending on the amount of rain hitting the windscreen at that moment in time.

So if it's spitting, there may not be enough rain to trigger the sensor, so the sensitivity needs adjusting up.

There should be a sensor on the windscreen by the rear view mirror, you can only see it from outside.

The sensor is present. This morning with sensitivity on low, it still continued to wipe at long intervals. Then with zero rain at one point on totally dry screen on m'way it still wiped at selected intervsls rather than on auto when it shouldnt be wiping at all.
