    Angry Overheated :(

Right, the missus had just got in. Been out in the CDTi 150. Both fans running. She said temp gauge went to 100 then to 95 fir 5 miles. Just had a look. Coolant bleed screw has popped out. No coolant in tank and burning smell.

So it's off to get a new bleed screw tomorrow. Just praying that the head gasket hasn't been cooked...... Anyone know the chances of this happening? Just my luck it'll not be ok...!

I think in this instance you'd better pray it aint done no damage mate.. Normally when the car runs without water there isnt anything left to register a temperature... so I'd assume there was 'some' water left in the system, so cross your fingers and hope for the best ...

Thanks Plasma. Just hope my dealer's got the bleed screw in stock!

No worries though. It's her car not mine My DTi has been so much more reliable than her CDTi. She wants to swap.......!

Just had a quick look at the car before heading to work. Squeezed the radiator hose and a little coolant came from the bleed hole. So some coolant still in system.

Calling dealers when they open to try and get the bleed screw, hopefully they're stock items And also praying head gasket is not cooked

My missus would do the same thing.
I can just imagine her driving along looking at the gauge, thinking that's high around 100 or just over. I'll drive another 30 miles and let my husband look at it. LOL

Typical woman. Luckily this was only about 6 miles.

Good news. Dealer has one bleed screw in stock. He's keeping it for me. Getting it on my lunch break and sorting car out tonight after work.

Then it's out with the prayer mat to pray the head gasket survived!

I pray for you that the head and gasket are still OK. My mum did the same thing to our 2.2DTi when the bottom pulley went..."I heard a bang and then a red light started flashing, but didn't stop as I was only 5 minutes from home" No damage thank God...

Check the connection to the sensor on the bottom of the tank. If that's ok, then a new tank from a dealer. No more than £20
