    Default lumpy 3.0 v6 cdti

    hi guys.
    i Have the signum 3.0 V6 cdti on a 53 plate.
i went for a long drive 150ish miles to silverstone and i noticed that even though the car ran really well, had sufficient power when needed but it felt lumpy. i have issues with the excessive black smoke, these might be related, i am on the big learning curve and trying to take it all in, a (haynes manual would be handy but never mind).
all thoughts suggestions and help will be gratefuly recieved!
    thanks in advance

Is it lumpy on idle or on the move? Is the power delivery OK? Define lumpy

    hi celes.
ok its lumpy on the move at idle its perfect no hunting at all.
    power delivery is full on.
as for my definition of lumpy its amost like a misfire from a badly timed engine, good enough to run just not smooth, it sort off feels like a badly balanced wheel giving a vibration through out the car. but its an uneven if that makes scense as in every now again there will be a bigger judder...god i hope that makes some scense i dont know how else to explain it

I'm suffering with the same issues. Sometimes it judders, sometimes it doesn't. I think it has nothing to do with the engine, but rather another part of the drivetrain (like DMF, CV joints,...).

I explained something about the smoke issue in your other thread

    hi celes..
yeah i popped openn the air cleaner this afternoon and had a look.
i removed the top part the pipe in the bottom half of the filter box.and hoovered out all the crap that was sitting in there!
and she is running smoother...it cant be that simple lol

    hi celes.
the milage on the car is 120500.
i am going to fill up with the expensive v power shell diesel tomorow and seeif that makes a difference.
red lining on this car probably donsnt happen enough due to it being an auto.
the egr valve was replaced by the last owner at 115000 miles.

The smoke issue is common on the y30dt when they changed the egr system on the z30 engines this curred the problem. if you give it a real blast it clears the system and you wont see any smoke for the rest of the day.

well...the v power doesnt seem to make that much difference...still smoking like a bandit..gave it the beans heading on to the motorway earlier watching the plooms of smoke smothering the road, before i realized i was hitting 130mph...so my next move is to clean the boost sensor...does anyone have any detailed diagrams or pictures of this engine?

The boost presure switch is on the rear inlet manifold on the right just under the turbo boost valve. Be carefull not to break the filer off the valve. Also check that the inlet pipe that goes onto the inlet is fittted correctly, as if this is letting in air will cause the engine to smoke. Check all the pipe clips.
