Default cim no way (cruise control issue)

RIght, using a suitable diagnostic program i had a go off finally finding out why my cruise control was horribly intermittent.

set up my diagnostics to read the following.

    • clutch switch
    • break switch
    • cruise control active/not active
    • Speed range for cruise control : withing range/not within range
    • tip/activate/stalk switch
Now after going over the general error "Cruise control switch malfunction"
and replacing old stalk with a new one the error persisted

    • clutch switch :withing range, working
    • break switch :within range and working
    • cruise control active/not active :working (when not intermittent lol)
    • Speed range for cruise control : working
Now here is where things were mad.......

    • tip/activate/stalk switch
with out touching the stalk and even while sitting there the readings were jumping from active, inactive, increase, decrease, resume and random variations of that....but applying a little pressure from a different angles can cause the readout to stablise to "off/standby"

so i removed the stalk cleaned the contacts and replaced it to no avail.

so i decided maybe the contacts aren't connected too well. I wedged a cotten bud on the steering wheel side of the stalk and pushed that in while replacing the stalk at the same time.

i choose the bud so it would compress and not break anything.

my cruise control went from working 1 out of 20 times while holding buttons and grabbing the stalk in frustration to 8 out of 20 times without any bending or holding required lol.

I am going to replace the cotton bud as it isnt creating the same pressure it did initially. when stationary the readout of the stalk is contstant. if on a bad road or anything it jumps all over the place again so i will try a bit of plastic this time or a large paper clip.

i will report back but this is definately proving to have a positive outcome as the diagnostics are proving this for me.

if i 100 percent solve it i will post a how-to as a last resort before people go out paying to have their CIM replaced.

I also notice my indicators seem to be better.the auto click off better on turns and the slight touch for changing lanes (3 blinks)and heavy touch for junctions(constant) works better

    stay tuned.

    Default

Have you tried "raising" the connections inside the CIM
, or adding some solder onto the stalk connections,

I did the first and mines is working fine, i have also changed all switches possible
