    Default advice about lowering springs

i have the chance of a set of lowering springs, i was going to buy them this week but....the guy told me they came off a 05 plated C model, they are made by Gmax, he does'nt have a part number. iv asked him to send me some pics.
i received an email from him this morning saying he would sort some out for me, but he also added the the car they came from was an "SRI trim"
would they still fit my 54 1.8 energy hatch?

    Vehicle : Vectra SRi

    Trim : XP NAV

    Engine : 1.9 CDTi 150

    How much do they lower?

As a general rule of thumb(ish) upto -35mm then the standard shock will be ok, but any more then you will need either SRi (shorter) shocks or uprated ones.

Saying that some have fitted -45 springs to non-SRi shocks and have been ok, but don't expect them to last.

others may differ, but i've heard GMAX aren't all that good.
I think you'd also need to check the axle weights of the car they came off. They make different springs for different models for a reason. They'd probably fit ok on to yours if they differed, but as Dan said don't expect them to last all that long. HTH

they will fit, however you need to know the engine size from which car they came from... if you are putting these springs on a 1.8 petrol & they came from a cdti, then the car will not sit or even handle correctly due to the different front axle weights

    thanks for the replies guys.
the guy is yet to come back and let me know what model SRi they came from he just said it was a 05 vectra.
he recons they'v only done about 250 mile due to an accident.
he says they are about 35mm drop.
    he only wants £40 delivered

They are spot on for you then mate.

For £40 its a no brainer, as OEM VX springs don't last forever

iv got 225/40/18 fitted and iv had a good check today, it seems with a 35mm drop there might be a chance of the tyre rubbing on the arches?

has anyone got a lowering kit with these size tyres/wheels?
