Default VERY disapointed in my times :(

I went santapod today and was VERY disapointed in my times :/. It was busy and only managed to get 3 runs in.

I was extremely consistant, but consistantly BAD. I couldnt get a very fast launch atall with the auto, which is what i feared.

The first race was against a diesel bora and i missed the starting position slightly so had to reverse bk and by time i change bk to drive it had gone to green! lol. The bora actually beat my 60ft... lol. I won in end though obv

2nd race was vs a rx8, of which yet again, got a much better launch than me! Other than the initial launch, the rx8 didnt really furthur the gap so maybe the lower model? I dunno tbh.

3rd race was vs a 13sec stripped out old civic so stood no chance regardless, he didnt even have a dashboard! lol. This launch i tried to stage first so i could get my revs up, but my brakes didnt like it anything over 2k so had to let off again as it was wanting to move! When i did set off it prob only launched at 1.2-1.5k tops and was no better for it.

Now i know the launch is the most important part but i just couldnt do anything to improve it with the auto box. I ran very poor times of 16.2! at 86mph! Every run! Is this fault of my own or the fact auto is slower? Last dyno i had was putting 192bhp to the ground so i really expected atleast into the 15s. Was expecting high 15's tbh with it being auto, i knew i'd have trouble with the launch.

Ran with full weight, 3/4 of a tank of fuel, normal tyre pressure and with traction control on (my switch doesnt work)

Really disheartened by the poor times, so much so that im looking at autotrader as we speak :/

everyone has their bad days but it has to be the auto as you need the revs up on launch are you looking for a manual gsi now or something different

I think with a few more runs and less weight i could have just about broke into the 15 secs but i really expected that sort of firgure from the word go. Them rev are just too hard to get up at launch without moving the car. Once its moving its fine! Or atleast feels it. Looking at VXR's but also tempted by 225 meganes, manaul this time! Depends if our lass will let me go buy one though as i'll be dipping into the mortgage fund lol. Prioritys i suppose

Not tried it against the clock, but I wouldn't say my auto was slow on launch. Mine's a 1.9 150, with revs at around 1500 and holding on the footbrake she'll take off like a scalded cat. From a standing start at lights I can be over 50mph by the time I cross the intersection.
Is the power curve much different on the GSi? 2000+rpm on mine would just spin the wheels.

Santa Pod, Rolling Roads and Track Days are pretty much guaranteed to ruin your day if you become obsessed with figures

Dont be disheartened its just the way things are.... You will get better learning about your car and how its best handled.

I run 14.1 second quarter miles and some guys on VXRonline think thats crappy slow

So just enjoy yourself and the day
