    Default Petrol in Diesel engine

Hi Ive got a big problem, the wife has just rang and said she put petrol in (Diesel engine), Its 15ltr and the tank was low.
She realised when the car was spluttering......Sooo do I fill up the remainder with V power diesel and run it or drain it???

    Its a 2005 CDTI 120!

    Cheers, Justin

Brim it with diesel and get a new fuel filter once you work it through. The other option is VERY expensive,,,

That's a lot, the damage is done as its been started and will be through the system. It needs the fuel drained and the fuel filter replaced.

are they a 65 litre tank? if so you will probably get away with filling it to the brim and changing the filter.

20% petrol to 80% diesel should get away with it

    20% 65litres =15litres

I agree there's to much in the tank to risk it.

sorry, it's too much. any more than 5 litres in a cdti is probably risking it - 15L is far too much!
get it drained by the aa or someone. it'll be cheaper than a new engine - hopefully not too much damage has already been caused.

here's some advice from the aa regarding misfueling http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice...sfuelling.html
