Default P0030 Do I simply need a new Lambda Sensor?

    Hi guys

not posted in a while TBH but hoping you guys may be able to point me in the right direction with this code. Car isn't going over 2.5k revs and is giving a tiny blast of black smoke when I first start the engine in the mornings.

I got a mate who works @ a panel beaters to plug his Snap-on machine in. Here's what we got, his machine displays:
    *************
    1.9 Diesel - Z19DT
    p0030 - Heated O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 Circuit Open

The book that came with the machine says this:
    P0030 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank Sensor 1 -
The heater control for the HO2S (oxygen / lambda) sensoris used to heat up and provide stable temperature for the sensor (primarily after cold starts). The hetaing element can receive a power supply via a relay (often the main system relay) and the heater earth path can be switched to earth via the control unit (this is the heater control circuit), the control is therefore able to control the operation of the heating element by controlling the earth circuit. Note that some systems may also provide the power supply to the heating element via the control unit. It may be necessary to refer to vehicle specific information to identify the type of Oxygen / Lambda sensor and the wiring.
    *************

Do you think a new Lambda Sensor would fix this? If anyone could please offer advice, it really would be appreciated. I'm driving mega slow due to this and am kinda skint so may buy one 2nd hand if thats what it is....

Any advice would be awesome guys,

    Thanks a million..... Jason.

If I recall correctly, it should take about 30 seconds.

Done, thanks guys! Made no difference to the way the car drives, still getting lack of power but the EML only comes on intermittently now.

Cleaned out the EGR valve today too, was chock full of black crap but still no difference....

Am totally at the end of my tether with this car! Wishing I never had it at the mo TBH...

Thanks for asking mate Nah, pedal trick doesn't seem to work on mine. Looks like I'm gonna have a visit to a friend tonight to use OpCom

    Nothing is easy eh?

I'm getting some white smoke on start-up and not able to go over 2.5k Revs. Major embarrasing driving to work in rush hour traffic LOL
