    Default 1.9 cdti 150

    im having problems with my 1.9 atm, it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders on start up and goes really lumpy at 800-1200rpm then sounds smoother after that. the Air flow mass meter has been replaced as has the EGR valve am i correct in thinking the injectors are the next thing to look at? i have read horror stories of the manifold being replaced i want to try that as a last resort. any help would be greatly recieved
    the car is a 05 plate and on 135k miles if that helps at all.

    i love driving the car but dont wanna get rid of it with this issue if its a simple fix
    dont wanna spend £6-800 on it to get it running smooth if its actually only a injector that needs refurbishing.

    Next time it does it look to see if you get any puffs of blue'ish smoke from the exhaust!.

    Id say 3rd injector bud, also look to see if swirl bar is still attached.

    cheers guys i will own up my 1.9CDTI is actually a saab 9-3 version but i know its the same engine, everything is still attached. there is some blueish smoke on full throttle, when it goes in monday will pass this info onto the mechanic if the injector is clogged up am i better getting all 4 ultrasonically cleaned?

    The '3rd injector' thing is to do with a wiring loom fault that seemed to hit... you guessed it... the 3rd injector. Fix is a simple and cheap replacement section of wire & there is a VX part for it. Searching posts should get you the info you need

    Wiring was upgraded on later models and *I think* the early ones with the problems had yellow plugs on the injector wiring, later had blue. May have this the wrong way round... info in the posts should tell you.

    Swirl bars fall off, as srinav suggests, worth checking. Again, workround is easy, if a little fiddly to actually get the bar back on. There are threads about repairing it for less than a fiver with some tap repair washers.

    Boost pressure sensors get gunked up...

    Have a look at the relevent 'sticky' threads at the top of this section to see if there's anything that helps, too.
