Unhappy Looks like my CDTI 150's turbo has gone

Finally got round to changing the front ARB bushes on Wed and the test drive around the local area showed a massive improvement. No clunking/creaking and a much improved and smoother ride. Great I thought - back to properly enjoying the car...

Started her up yesterday afternoon, and was greeted with a god-awful screeching noise when I pulled away. It was coming from the turbo - definately. Gutted.

I'm on the last couple of days of my summer leave, don't have time to sort it now and will need to take the missus's car to get back to work.

I understand these things happen, expecially if you're running higher boost from a remap and the car's getting on in mileage, but the timing's really s*****d me

Have spoken to AET Turbos and they've quoted me £475 + vat + my old unit, for a replacement turbo with uprated seals and bearings, or £375++ for a standard replacement. Or they do a hybrid with larger compressor for £590++...

I'll be away for a fortnight from next week so only have next weekend to do anything on the car. I've spoken to a mechanic neighbour who is willing to do the work on his driveway in his spare time over the next few weeks.

I've had a quick attempt to get access to the turbo to check it, but have only managed to loosen the charge inlet pipe - I can't get the purchase on the pipe to pull it right off. Anyone here worked on their turbos that can pass on any useful tips?

Really don't need to spend the last couple of days of my leave ****ing around with the car though.

Take the rad pack off and it makes life hell of a lot easier but you will need to recharge your air con. Also u are looking about £125 for all the gaskets, bolts etc (we replaced everything including new studs). Dont forget the filter on the oil pipe as well, u must change that.

Yes, last night, 11pm+ some moron plastered both cars and front of house with kebab leftovers mix and a few stones thrown in for luck. Porch tiles were covered in a nice mix of mayo, lettuce, onion, tomato and chips, then they slapped my car windscreen to attract attention. You can guess what happened when I tried to go out to look. Could have been nasty, as it was very messy and Wendy now has two chips in drivers view on windscreen.
