So much for peacefully watching NCIS, my "reward" for not protesting at Celebrity Big Brother. Two loud "thumps" outside, one level with kitchen window, one by front door. Wendy saw the shadow of a tall (man?) running away.
I got up and went to front door to have a look - and nearly broke my neck on a mess of lettuce, onion, maynnaise, chips, and a pizza box. If I'd been going a bit faster I'dve gone down, feet first, and put the back of my head through the glass panel in the front door.
Then we started clearing that up, after taking photos on the off chance the police were interested, and Wendy checked the Vec. Same obnoxious concoction all over the roof and windscreen.
My guess is they bounced it off the Vec to get our attention, then chucked it into the front doorway hoping one of us would get hurt coming out. If so, there's only one person round here hates us that much, a certain rear neighbour, who would fit the description (along with dozens of others).
Rang the non urgent number, they took the details, sounded concerned, said officers would be round to take a statement.
Officers drove by, pulled over, said they couldn't find anyone on foot - ok. Asked if they wanted the pizza box for fingerprints, they reckon cardboard can't be fingerprinted (?) but said, if they only knew where it came from, they could make enquiries. Wendy told them it was a distinctive box and only one shop on High Street used them - they backtracked rapidly.
I suggested, as our cars and doorway were targeted out of over a dozen, and it could have been meant to injure, did they want the photos - no.
"boxes and leftovers get thrown regularly in the High Street, all over the place" Pointed out we were 2 miles from High Street, down a quiet cul de sac off another quiet road off a side road. They left.
Annoying thing is was I was going to snowfoam and detail the Vec tomorrow....
