Default So ! My Space saver is almost 2" smaller in Diameter than the Standard alloy wheels !!

Had a Flecking Puncture tonight & fortunately was almost home .. Limped onto the drive & swapped for the Space saver only to find that is is almost 2 inches smaller in raidius / height (I know there are supposed to be smaller in width)

This cannot be right surely ???

It will illuminate the Abs due to a vastly different rolling radius & if fitted to the front wind up the diff ....

Surely the space saver should be as near as damn it the same height / radius !!

I really don't fancy driving tomorrow on that especially if the Abs ligt illuminates after a few miles & not forgetting the fact that the who;e car now tilts to one side ......

    Cheers

Deliberately look naff to make you go get the puncture sorted asap, that's why I was so determined to get a full size spare.

    Just measured overall height !!

Standard alloy & Tyre 24 Inches

Shiite Saver wheel & Tyre 22 Inches

It certainly don't look level ! Unless you tilt your head way over to the Left !!

Just make sure it goes on the rear, it'll be fine as a temporary fix.

I have changed the size on the space saver to a bigger size to make it fit size wise to the oe mounting.

Space saver is 115-70/16 from factory. I bought a 125-90/16 and it now fits i height and radius.. No problem fitting it to the space saver wheels either...

I had to use mine couple of weeks back, car pulled to the left really bad and cruise control wouldn't work, not sure why this is. Got my puncture fixed asap because space saver wheels on a big car like the vectra just arn't safe

You should always fit a space saver to one of the rear wheels, regardless of the vehicle - though on a front wheel drive car it's especially important not to put it on the front unless you have no option.

They're rarely the same size as the full size wheels. It's only meant to get you to a place to get your other tyre repaired or replaced or can leave the car safely until you can - not to drive to work and back on. And of course, keep your speed down - definitely don't exceed 50mph.

Having said that, I drove 20 miles through snow and ice with a space saver on the front right wheel of one of my Subaru Legacies (that was to the next town) with no problems, the handling was barely affected - but 4WD no doubt helps there.

On a Dual Fuel Vectra, there's no way I want a full size spare. The space saver takes up half the boot as it is!

Only had to run on it once, and as soulman says it does sit level, donno how though. Surprising how well it actually drove on the spacesaver too.
