    Default Cd70 upgrade map discs

How different are these?, mine is currently a 2008 map disc, would there be any benefit getting a 2009, 2010? or wait for the 2011, bearing in mind how expensive the newer versions are?

There wont be many people with a newer disc to tell you about it, last vectras were registered early 2009 so im guessing people will have got 2008 maps. Very few will have bought newer ones.

I'm probably going to get the 2011/2012 disc that's out now. When I got my Siggy, there was no map disc so as a stop-gap, I erm... ....acquired a 2010 VDO disc that worked but doesn't do traffic management. I've heard that the latest ones enable traffic management again.

Where I live, there have been a few major motorway upgrades so it's probably worth it for me, if the roads around you haven't changed much since 2008 then it may not be worth your while updating.

Just to let you known if you go onto German ebay, you'll quite easily find genuine UK Opel maps for a lot less than dealer prices.

Thanks ByGino, I have seen some on e-bay from Germany, a couple oftimes the sat nav has lead me astray, so I was hoping that they would be more detail on newer ones.

When you compare the built in Nav to ANY TomTom, it's a really poor effort by VX, really poor. Considering how much the Vecs were new with Nav I can't believe how obsolete they are. Saying that, not many other manufactuers fare any better circa 2008, except the Land Rover/Jag system....imo

Sounds like you have the orange Graphic Info Display, if you have a "Compass" on your display... I have one of these too..
To get maps on yours, you would need the ColourInfo Display and the RGB cable... Not cheap by any means.

On top of this, you would need the display to be paired to the head-unit, and the code index and variance configurations set-up to suit your car's specific configuration.

Regarding which map cd's to use...
I have a 2009/2010 map CD in my Cavalier, which is not as accurate as the 2007/2008 map disc in the wife's vectra... well for me in and around Manchester anyway.

like you say, the 2010/2011 disc does not work for TM / TMC..
all previous discs do work on either TMC or TM-TMC

maybe a later firmware disc may allow the later TM-TMC to work better..
both of our cars are running firmware 04/04/2007
