    Default tailgate auto-close issue

    Hi guys,
I'm currently having issue with the automatic closure my vectra c 2007 tailgate,
actually the tailgate opens properly no issue there, but everytime I'm closing the tailgate it stops halfway without reason, it seems that it sense something underneath and it stops. After actioning the closing button a second time sometimes the tailsgate shut down, sometimes it doesn't thus I have to pressit several times before it works.
Do you have any idea about it?I was thinking that it could be related to the action controlled mechanism which folds the tailgate itself.
    Could you help, please?
    Thanks a lot
    Msqualo

It's a very common problem and mine has just started doing the exact same too. It's usually part of the internals of the motor worn out. I plan to strip mine apart and re-grease and oil it all to see if that solves it although I'm not confident.

    Hi Ian,
    thanks,
one question, do you know how to detach the cable which transmit the piston gear movement from the motor?
Do you have a tech scheme or a drawing which explain your maintenace thoughts?
    Thanks

Yes this is a common problem. Two times a have disassembled the hole unit without find any issue, when assembled again it have been okay for months. It may be the potentiometer that have an intermittent fail. The potentiometer are available as spare.

Check this thread about retrofitting power tailgate it may help you.

    it can be 2 things..

    The potentiometer..

But also on the cabel, theres a "piece of white" plastic.. that moves forward/backwards, when it open/closes..

That one also controls the motor.. as when is "at motor end" it hits a switch, that then stops the motor.. its a NON repair item.. if its that.. because you cant get a new wire on its own.

I'm sure what you mean, can't remember any mowing plastic parts except the cog wheels. It's a metal part that activate the internal micro switch.
Do you have a picture from the inside.

Mine stoped working again last Friday so I have to fix it again.

Ill take my spare motor apart .. its a plastic part, that moves the metal part that activate the internal micro switch..

that plastic bit is around the wire.. and sits flush at the buttom, when the strut is NOT compressed..
