Default Hi from Serial Vauxhall Owner

    hello to all

I am probably on here from a long time ago under a different ID, but I have lost and forgotten it.

For a long time I drove Fords , but a friend kept telling me to buy a Vauxhall so in the 80s I bought a grey Cavalier 2.0 SRi, which is one of the best cars I have ever had. It went like a rocket, was economical and comfortable and was still running well when I sold it ten years later.
    Only problem was electrical faults.
I bought my wife a 1.8 Cavalier Auto which she flatly refused to drive (too big!) so I p/xed it for a used 2.0i Vectra CD with all the gadgets for over £5000, which I hated at first for its handling. It had serious understeer issues. I changed the tyres and it was then almost as good as the SRI. In the end I kept it for over eight years and sold it for £250 with getting on for 150K on the clock.
Again the main problem was electrical faults.
For a while I used both the SRi and the Vectra because I couldn't bear to part with the SRi!
I sold the SRi to a friend and bought a s/h 2.2 Vauxhall Sintra as a second car. It was a nightmare at first, although the design is fantastically good for its purpose.. Really weird faults! Physical and electrical. I sorted most of them out myself and still use it a couple of times a week. it needs a couple of exhaust manifold studs, but runs really well and is now very reliable. I think I am bit of an expert on these cars now!
For some weird reason in 2009 I bought a Rover 75 as a main car - I think I found the look attractive. I'll draw a curtain over that as it was a bad mistake. Suffice it to say, I was glad to have the Sintra to use when the Rover had problems.
Early this year I decided to buy a sensible car and found a really nice ex-fleet Vectra 1.9 CDTi Estate (the higher BHP version) locally for a really good price. I had it about two months and the alternator died, but it was covered under a dealer's warranty. Electrical fault again!
I really like it. Again it is a combination of all that you need - fast , comfortable, economical, easy to find parts for, and a car that most workshops are able to work on.
I will probably keep to Vauxhalls in future.
