Default 120cdti hot starting issues...i have searched.

Hi all,my 120bhp vec is struggling to start, she will start alot easier when the glow plug light is on,i turn the key and warm the plugs 3 times and she fires up.

But,if ive been out for a drive, come back home for a hour when i go back to the car and the glow plug light doesent show it takes 4-5 trys to get her to start!,I have a light on the dash...the "car with a spanner through it" light, but im struggling to find a code reader that will read it,as most ebay ones only read check engine faults.

Do these simptoms sound familiar to anyone, could do with some experience or a nod in the right direction lol.

    many thanks,lee

71k,2006 year last serviced 15k miles ago,I should to be fair bite the bullet and get the code read at vx,just wondering if anyone has a link to a code reader that will read the spanner light?

It maybe a battery issue, would a low battery charge throw up a error light though?

Any garage will be able to read the codes.

Could be a number if things mate. So get codes read asap.
    Hot starting probs are usually.

Is there still a green light on the battery in sight glass?

unsure about battery, just ordered a op-com code reader off ebay, these have been used by others on here and are spanner code readable, will give that a whirl first then take it from there,i will report back.

But the issue arises when the car is warm and doesent need a full glow cycle, thats what is making me wonder?.
