Default 3.0 cdti glow plug relay HELP!!

    Hi all,

Car & spanner light came on yesterday so drove to the local garage so they can try for a code read on it. Came up that glow plug relay is faulty. When ignition is turned the glow plug light goes out really quickly. Car still starts normally and drives without going into limp mode even though spanner&car light comes on.

Was just wondering if anyone knew were the relay is locate?

    Kind regards

    Vectra c, 04, 3.0 cdti y30dt 79,000

Damn, this different version of TIS2000 I have is knackered - no wiring diagrams working

From memory, I think it is located behind the front wheel: you will have to take some of the bits of plastic off to get at it. What I can't remember is whether it's the driver or passenger side.

If I get the wiring diagrams working, I'll get back with more info, unless someone else knows!

    OK, diagrams re-installed

It's not giving me the location of the glow time control unit for your model. But if it's any use, on mine, the unit is located IN FRONT of the DRIVER'S SIDE front wheel - there looks to be a panel if you imagine a line projected forwards at the height of the top of the brake disc. I have checked for mine, which is a 55plate sig V6 diesel, so this may be helpful to you... it may not, but it's the best I can come up with

I had the same issue on my old 3ltr. Turned out one of the glow plugs was faulty but only at a certain temperature

Has any body got a picture of were it's located?

Also does anybody know what resistance a should get at each glow plug? Trying to do all checks before actually removing them an putting a jump lead on them

Car is a 2004 v6 Cdti veccy hatchback

Not sure about that, think it is more to do with the dealerships scratching their heads and not being able to diagnose what in effect turn out to be are fairly basic and simple issues

Many of them seem to be difficult to diagnose, until complete failure (such as the blocked SCV)
We've already seen some members post for several weeks with symptoms but still not resolve, which cannot be diagnosed until the part has failed completely
As above, erratic issues eventually turn into permanent issues and only then is it worth having it looked at

    Cheers mate.
Will have a look tomorrow. Fingers cd it's the relay at fault and not glow plugs themselves
