    Default Car Life Expectancy

In January 2012 I will have owned my VXR for four years. Without a doubt the longest privately owned vehicle I've ever owned... and quite an achievement as I get bored so easily with cars.

How long do you normally keep cars for and which car have you kept the longest and why?

This one - 4 years 8 months and all the issues it's given me, I still love it. Then I have only owned this one.

My signum, had it for three years as it was on finance, same goes for my astra coupe. However the rest I have averaged about a year iirc. Same as you, I get bored with them.

To date, best car I have ever owned was my Subaru Legacy Spec b bit the fuel costs were getting silly!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

normally a couple of years for cars ....when i rode motorbikes they might not even last a week before i changed them

so two years on a car is a looooooong time for me even if i change within a model/engine type its still a change

but this one may be a keeper

We tend to keep our cars until theyre scrap or very close to it. The newer car is the family car and the older car is downgraded to tip runs/dog walking etc etc. Our current second car is a 17 year old golf estate which has been in the family for 16 years of its life. It went for an MOT last week and i thought it would fail drasticly, but unbelivable that it went straight through, no probs. So it lives for another year.
Oh i tend to have a couple of bikes to keep me amused.

In the past I've changed every 2yrs but that's more to do circumstances than car. Had the Vec 28months now and can't see me changing it anytime soon.
