Brake pads rattling in the carrier/caliper......I had it for months and the day it was booked in to have new cat and back boxes I found the answer on this forum. 1hour later new pads and discs and no rattle. Cheap pads dont fit correctly so go to vx for them.
Best way to find out is drive down a bumpy road so the rattle is kinda constant and lift the handbrake a few notch's if it stops its the pads.
My guess is the boot. I checked everything.
Adjusted the boot strike bar. An hey presto no squeek
Rear pads
garage ave just put new vx pads in
Rear upper control arms. It is a classic Vectra C problem. The rubber bushes wear and they rattle. I did mine 18 months ago. It only took me 3-4 hours and I am a Vectra novice, working alone. I replaced the whole arms. I got a pair or rear UCAs from a well-known online auction site for less than £30 or so - delivered.
And it worked! My rear tyre wear was improved dramatically too.
Be sure to get your wheel alignment checked and corrected after any suspension work.

Here's the cause of the rattling from the rear end:
