Default Sainsbury Fuel - Stolen From HUKD.com

Spend £60 instore and get 12p off per litre at the pumps from 27th Aug to 10th Sept.

Yes, I know I hate supermarket fuel (mainly the derv) but for the petrol heads who like to use it and people who are not too worried about the lower grade, it is a good deal!

This is not intended as a supermarket fuel praise or bashing thread, there are plenty of them on here, just for information.

Sainsburys have a supply agreement with BP for their fuel, I find no problem with their diesel, unlike Asda and Tesco where I get about 6mpg less.

Sainsburys fuel is really good I find. I ran my last vectra on nothing but Sainsburys diesel and did over 180'000 trouble free. Although it was main dealer serviced regularly.

Well, the 12p off per L is not per car but per transaction. Fill one car and without resetting the pump, get your second car at the pump and fill that too!

I know it is still a lot but 12p off is ~ 123.9ppl - anyone remember when it was last that cheap!!

4 5p off would almost make it worth while for Tesco diesel IMO!

On an average fill of 50L, 12ppl is equal to £6. Better in yours than theirs.

you can see superstores have £££ signs in their eyes and are playing up on peoples perceptions that money off fuel saves them a fortune. Tesco's went from "spend over £50 instore get 5p per litre off" to now where they are doing it on loads of stuff like "spend £10 or more on pet food and get 5p per litre off".

12p per litre is pretty decent but not necessarily worth making a trip to Sainsburys just to get it and only makes sense if you were going to do that amount of spending anyways.

My Granda used to have a friend in Edinburgh who would drive from one side of town to the other to save 2ppl on his fuel!!

If you are a regular at Sainsburys food and do use their fuel, it is worth it. If you have one locally to you and normally go to Morrisons or tesco or ASDA, it could be worth a change of scenery for a wee saving!

These supermarkets are making huge profits on your £50 or £60 and as a result and taking a slight hit on the fuel. They will have tables, graphs and charts documenting how much fuel the average person puts in. I said 50L as it is a round figure and easily would fit the Vectra tank. How many tanks are only 40L and if people are only filling with 30L of fuel then they are saving ~ £3.60, which is probably the mark up on a bottle of decent wine or a crate of beer or even some CD's or DVD's!

This is the case where one hand washes the other, the loss they make on the fuel is ore than compensated for by the main shop.

If you would spend £50 or £60 a week on food anyway and then go fill the tank anyway then you will save money.

5p off per litre equates to about £2.50 on a full tank. It's hardly worth it.

if you happen to need the items you need to buy to get the discount, fair enough, but you can save more at Tescos or Sainsburys with their buy-1-get-1-free style of offers. When I pass through the self service checkouts, and typically get a total bill of say, £40, press "finish and pay" and £4-5 gets knocked off from the offers, which out strips the petrol discount.
