    Default Engine Problems 2.0DTi Y20DTH

    Hello ,
Ill start from the beginning in-case it is of any relevence.
About 4 weeks ago i cleaned the EGR Valve and Manifold and have had better fuel economy and better power with 0 problems.

Just the other day i was driving along with cruise control on and suddenly EML came on and lost all power, thought nothing of it got home end of. Next morning i turned the engine on sounded fine no problem drove off no EML but ... no power either could barely pull off in 1st(riding the clutch), struggled to 2k revs kept dipping and the car was literately bunnyhopping, instantly thinking this aint good put my foot the floor.

After slowly struggling it decided to climb a bit, at about 3.5k revs it took off like a rocket thought everything was fine. little after a few minutes, again lost all power EML back on pulled over turned engine off, put it back on with no EML then it started all over again EML came back on no power foot to floor takes off few minutes back to limp. Also there seems to be a lot more black/grey smoke than usual .

A 2 mile journey takes 2 pit stops lol :X

Any help would be greatly appreciated was thinking of getting a new Mass Air Flow Meter(Possible Suspect ATM) but don't want to spend without it being necessary.

Again, thank you all for your contributions.

    First thoughts are:
One of the rubber boost pipes (that go from the Turbo to the Intercooler Radiator to the Inlet manifold) has burst or one joint just come away from one of the metal bits of he Intercooler.
You need to check them with someone else reving to engine to see whats happening.

also if its rev'ed while sitting still in neutral the EML doesent come on but still struggled to rev up.

    I'm genuinely really baffled :S

    Lightbulb

What i forgot to mention was I disconnected the mass air flow meter and drove for a bit and found the exact same performance results as if it was connected except there was constant smoke and there was no casual boost, possible faulty maf?

    Thanks

New Symptoms: Car starts and drives fine below 2.5 revs and then dips because on the EML light, the turbo kicks in fine, engine now pulls fine but limited by the EML possible electrical fault?

I have no codes as of yet ive tried the trick in the how2 section didnt work.
    Thanks

I would still check the pipes, especially if you have fitted non standard one's as they can come off the metal bits.
It does sound like you need someone local with diagnostic software.
There does not seem to be any club meet's near you soon, so it might be an idea to PM the South Wales Regional Organiser and ask if he knows who can help.
    Good luck

Mate, check all the small rubber pipe connectors at the end of the thin tubes,i believe they call them actuator pipes, this happened to me about 2 years ago, they end up splitting letting air in,bringing on the fault light and linp home mode.

Think the first thing you need to do is have the fault code,s read , Ask on here if there is anyone near you that has a tech 2 or op-com.
once the codes are known we should be able to stear you in the right directiion

thanks for all your reply's and i found out what the problem was.

The EGR Valve was sticking wouldn't close or open ... i sanded it down WD40'd it and all is well drives fine no EML, doesn't close properly and has a little loss of power at low revs but damn it! ... its drivable and works fine lol!

Again thank you all for your reply's much appreciated!
