Default Egr valve on 2002 vecta ls

I gave been told my egr valve is knackered ive been using the car and its been driving like a bag of spanners i.e high revs no push etc yesterday it tottaly lost power and hardly could move... Ive since beent told i can block off the valve and its pretty easy. Now whst i need to know is if it is easy and if im looking at the fight thing. I think my valve is at the back of the engine and easily accessible with a black electrics plug going into it!!!! If it is that is it just 2 bolts and unplug the lead and block the hole up??? Is it really that simple?? Feedback would be greatlsy appreciated

You have the z18xe. EGR is on the right hand side of the cylinder head, between the battery box. 3 torx bolts and a multi plug to remove.

Heres a pic of where it should be.

LoL, ill keep you in mind if I need a Spark bud Luckily I dont have an egr, but sure if you go and buy some Carburettor cleaner (petrol may work too) you should be able to give it a good soak and clean the crud out.

The car may go into limp if you disconnect it from the loom. Try blanking it but still keep it connected to the loom. This may help it run but may still pop a light up on the dash.

Just returned from my first mechanical experience and it was a resounding FAILURE... Car is still a bag of spanners. Spoke to my mate who is a mechanic and he said it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders so ill tell you guys what i know.
You start it up it starts fine it idles nicely the engine sounds sweet even when revving THEN the fun begins.. Engage first pull away and it has the performance to match a 100 yr old woman on a pushbike pulling a caravan sogive it some revs still nothing more than roughly 8-10mph at a push same in second etc etc.. so i have a couple of questions 1.. The egr valve came up on a diagnostic so i do believe it is knackered would this cause it to eventually only run on 3 cylinders as we had to give it a little more revs than normal after this was diagnosed.
2... IF it is only running on 3 cylinders how big a repair is it and how much roughly does it usually cost (planning incase i need to stay of the beer for a week to pay for it lol)
If anyone of you guys could help me with this it would be appreciated cheers

I don't think it's running on 3 cylinders as it wouldn't sound "sweet" when on idle. Mine was doing the exact same last year. Do you have the engine management light on the dash? What error code? Sounds like a new EGR valve is required. Just cleaning then does not always work in my experience.
