    Default Dam, drats, nuts...

I had a 20% discount on my VXR car insurance if I did 5000 miles per annum or less.

Declared at 31768 in December 2010 and this morning its at 36687

So got 81 miles left... Dont think I'm gonna make it to January.....

Called insurance company this morning and changed it to Unlimited Mileage so had to pay another £126.90

Oh well... Just have to drive it more now and get my moneys worth

Oh my god, how hard can it be !!

So I get my amended insurance form through via email and its says maximum estimated mileage 8000 !!... not unlimited which is the conversation I had with them.

So they then tell me 8000 is unlimited?

I said, thats not what the insurance document says.... They said well it is I can confirm it.

Nope. Not accepting that. Please amend the insurance document and resend it to say 'Unlimited' in the mileage box

They say, we cant amend the document to say unlimited, we have to enter a mileage.

So I say, well enter 100,000 miles then. They refused saying it would increase my premium. WTF??? What does Unlimited actually mean then?

Doggedly determined I continue to persue what have I paid my £126 for then if they refuse to amend the actual insurance document. After all they are only the broker, not the insurance company and I want written confirmation that I'm covered for my money.

Eventually they agree to send me a letter confirming our conversation and a new insurance document with 'Unlimited' in the mileage box.

me too spoons, insurance companies are a bunch of crooks.

You are spot on not accepting it because come claim time when you've done 8010 miles they'll use it as an excuse not to pay out and magically forget the conversation.

Finally got it sorted... funny how it now says 'Unlimited' where it should have done in the first place

    Actually... here's a thought.

You know how Insurance Companies wont insure you around a race track like the Nurburgring, and its all at your own risk.

Well, if I state that my insurance should cover me for 5000 miles per year. What if 4000 miles of that was around the Nurburgring where I'm not covered by them.

So is there an argument that the 5000 miles they cover me for is seperate to the overall mileage of the vehicle if its been used in an uninsurable environment?

.... 4000 miles round the Nurburgring, imagine that... heaven

What if your wife or family member uses the car under their insurance? Those might have not been driven by you? Always wondered about that?
