    confused V6 CDTi exhaust replacement...

Just noticed that the back boxes are starting to badly corrode on my signum. Cheaper to go stainless or genuine??

Seen a vectra stainless system on ebay for 400£ and I know a very competent welder if it needs modding to fit, is this worth going for as a replacement?

Anyone done similar? Not wanting to spend mega bucks on modding, just want a functioning exhaust... but if it soulnd a little better to boot, I won't mind

It maybe just the outer skin coming off. it happened to mine a year ago removed them and they are still sound. So try that.

Agreed, mine were first reported on MoT as badly corroded in 2009 and look exactly the same now as they did then
As with all exhaust parts, wait until they start blowing and need replacing

OK, I didn't realise they were double skinned

This means they're likely to be an expensive original part, so I think I'll wait till it's totally knackered, then go stainless, thanks!

i think a genuine rear box from stealer is around the £380 mark

could get a cat back stainless from mij for less

Trade Club prices for Vauxhall rear boxes for the Z30DT (I'm just guessing at which version of the 3.0 you have) range from £100 to £136, plus VAT.

Yes m8 it is the Z30 engine. Bit of variation in prices, but even at 120-150£ per box, plus the pipework, it would probably work out similar to go 'fit and forget'. Now, if I could ditch the DPF, that I think is dinsintgegrating due to the appearance of black soot in the tailpipe, I would really be getting somewhere...

Think you'll find the rear boxes on the 3.0 are one piece , there not like the quads you get with the y piece
