    Default DTi boiled!

Right CIM is shot so dash not working, so just 20mins ago I've driven 30miles home from a BBQ and half way I go into limp mode so I'm thinking time to clean the egr, when the dash eventually comes to life the temp needle is through the roof!!! So pulled over immediately and on inspection the alternator belt has snapped so not turning the water pump. What damage do you think is likely in this situation? is the water pump impeller plastic meaning ive probably melted it? Would the head gasket go under such hot conditions?

I'm soo annoyed ive missed it over heating cos the CIM is packed up, but I guess that's life

Might be lucky with just that. But you won't no until it's running again.

Oh s**t! Can't afford it right now as just blown £550 on four Tyres and four wheel alignment! I hate cars!

Tomorrow I'm going to take the front wheel off and see if I can put a new belt on myself, if so run it up and see if it overheats. Got a feeling though there's not enough room in there for me to do the belt myself so will probably have to get it done anyway. Never rains hey?

What engine do you have as the cambelt runs the water pump on most cars now

FOUND the problem when I investigated this morning, the crank pulley has sheered off!!! Found it sitting in the wheel arch guard under it! My mechanic is coming out to fix it tomorrow, probably gonna need a new water pump I expect . Pics of the damage below, GUTTED!

Whatever you do don't get a cheap after market pulley like I did, you'll regret it! A pukka part with a new stretch bolt is about £220.
And you'll need a good quality impact gun to get the old bolt out.
