Default Vauxhall giving me a brand new engine!

Well its been an on going problem with my Z22SE over the last year with a constant loss of oil. First from a cracked head then burning it from a faulty oil scraper ring.

You would think that they could fix the ring and away you go, but no! Yes away I went in a ploom of blue smoke and rattles and bangs!

Sorry sir, there is indeed a fault! Really!

This was all last week, today I got a call from the dealer telling me that I am to get a brand spanking new engine!

Few strange things though, Car due for its 40k or should I say 31k service in 3k, so I asked if the service scedual will be reset to follow the new engine. No sir, to keep your warrinty you have to keep to the existing one. How strange? It will have 3k on the clock but wil have to have a 40k service.£££

Anyway the main point to this thread is to ask you guys what I need to do in regards with DVLA and engine number etc. Also when I come to sell her in a few years the engine will have done 30k less than it says on the clock. A good thing you might say, but would you buy a car with this? Is there a form or letter I should be asking for?

    Cheers rushy

i'm sure you can get vauxhall to draft you up a letter authenticating the engine swap....or a receipt or something.

i'd be so chuffed i wouldn't even worry about the 40k service, they'll probably just stamp the book and send you on your way.

DVLA you can notify changes with pretty easily i would think, just send them off your V% with the necessary ammendments
    great result!

Just keep the paperwork from the dealer and any punter would love a car with a low mileage engine IMO..

The dealers should advise DVLA of the engine change and should ask for your V5 to be able to do so.. if you have to do it yourself the place you need to fill in is on the inside left leaf..

TOP RESULT thou in getting a new engine out of them.... WHY did they leave it this long is beyond me..

Means driving around like a slug for he first 1000 miles though and as I only do about 150-200 miles per week its sure going to drag.

the engine shouldn't need much running in.. in fact it's bad for it to make it struggle at low revs.. just don't spend much time above 4,500 rpm for the 1st 500 miles..

The rings want low rpm to bed in well, but the bearings don't like too low an RPM.. so just balance your driving..

The fact it's getting an oil change in 3,000 will be a good thing, clears out any stray production ****..
