    Default Onlive...The death of consoles?

Ok Onlive is due to launch in the UK as some of you will know and I've just tried it. For those that don't know its a game streaming service, Onlive keep all the expensive hardware there end and you just stream the game.

Think of it like this, your high end gaming computer is in a building across the road(onlive HQ) and your internet connection is basically a long video/vga/hdmi lead streaming the game image. So basically your crappy laptop can now play high-end games as all the horsepower is at there end, you just use your screen to display the image.

Ok here are the 2 links(coming up) use the first one to sign up(for free)which is a pre sign up for onlive uk Then go to the second one and log in this is onlive US which is up and running, you'll probably auto-log in if you haven't cleared cookies from when you sign up to uk site. When you log into the second link (the US site) go to the market place and scroll through the games. Many have free limited time trials and are good just to show how it works..AND IT REALLY DOES WORK. I tried on my VIRGIN 50mb and BT 8mb both work.(BT is onlives preferred UK partner)

    Ok sign up HERE
    Play HERE

    News item HERE

    Its pretty straight forward.

Don't forget you're playing on servers based in the USA, when the UK launch happens the game will be streamed from UK based servers.

It does make me laugh when people say that it'll be the death of consoles as you need an onlive "console" to play games on your tv..
had an invite to the launch event at Eurogamer, quite interested in this "cloud Gaming" but its hardly been a sellout in the US and most PS3 gamers dislike the idea of paying for anything (PSN etc), so we'll see how it turns out here upon launch, the 2mb minimum internet connection could put a lot of gamers off though as the UK's BroadBand leaves a lot to be desired speed wise unless your on cable and not everywhere has cable services yet), a few people also dislike BT and they are the main backbone providers for Onlive in the UK..

Well the "Onlive tv adaptor console" with a wireless controller is arround $99 but it possible to get it for under $80.

But you don't need it as you can use a laptop, PC,iPAD. You'll never have to update it as Onlive have all the tech and upgrade when needed. When it launchs if it works well I don't see me buying another console.

Just buy the Onlive Tv adaptor and controller for hopefully around £70 and play happily on any supported device I own using 1 log in. I'm also invited to the launch and we're definately going.

If only to get another t-shirt to add to me other gaming related freebie t-shirts lol.

If i were to get it i'd only have the Console, as gaming on my iphone, ipad, Galaxy tab, or PC doesn't really interest me anymore, spent years gaming on a pc and I now prefer large screen gaming (just bought myself a 3D HD projector ), so a console and a tv / big screen is all im interested in

wont happen here, the UK speed/throughput/capacity is just not good enough for games to be Viable PC and Console gaming will stay alive for years to come

Paul I got it from Amazon, Its an Optoma with the 3D XL processor, The 3D XL works with loads of different makes aswell, it was £249, the Projector was around £440'ish, was going to go for an LG with 3d support built in but I was told that the optoma 3D XL was better as its more powerful..
