    Default Rear Lights

Hi Folks I am lookig for some help.
The plug which connects into the Driver side rear lights on My 05 SRI Vectra has melted must have been a bad earth connection hence none of my rear lights are working does anyone know where I can get a replacement plug. The dealers have said they can't find one and I am wary of buying one form the breakers and having to splice into the loom can anyone help?

I'd say the scraper would be your best bet. Might be worth stripping a small section of the wire, around 15cm's away from the plug, to check the condition of the cable & insulation. If it looks damaged you could get the loom that goes from the rear fuse box to the two light clusters.

I'd get one from a scrapyard too. Chop the wires about 5cm from the plug, then chop off the melted one from your car. Use screw terminal block, or ideally solder the wires together and seal with heatshrink or insulating tape.

You almost certainly won't be able to buy the plugs from anyone but Vauxhall (or GM in general), and they won't be cheap even if they will sell you one.

Slightly related, but sorry if in wrong place. Can someone tell me if both fog lights should come on at the rear on a 1.9 CDTI exclusive. I noticed only the R/H side working. Looked at the L/H side bulb which looked ok, but replaced it with a new one, and it still didnt work???? could it be that only one side is supposed to work?

only 1 side as standard, even though they even fit the bulb, there is no wiring to it
but i run a feed from that light to the other side (blue wire with black stripe iirc) so both light up, been like that for nearly 4 years with no issues

Quick response, Thanks Taffy Bhoy. saves me farting about looking for broken wires etc. That is what i will do as well then. Run another feed to the other side.

How did you wire up to missing crimp in L/H socket? I have been to Maplin to look for one but coundt find one. The other option I thought of was to bent the pin out from the connector and put a spade terminal on it?
