    Default Dilemma....

In the office today and i'm sat on the ground floor, my car is park directly outside the nearest window so i can see it at all times!!

this guy in his mitsubishi warrior comes reversing up to it and all i hear is a loud crack, after a bit effing and blinding i go outside and see the guy taking a look at my bumper.

i ask: "is there much damage?"

"nah....no damage, i think i just rolled up on it"

bear in mind the warriors have this big steel bar that acts as the bumper.

he heads off into the office while i examine for myself. there is a 'ding' in the bumeper, but coming out of it, so it's proud of the rest of the bumper. i think where he has rolled onto it it has pushed my bumper down and onto a bolt beneath, so when he's come off it left sticking out!

the damage is very minor and i was in two minds whether to let it slide or not. i already did my good deed by stopping off in the rain on the way home from town yesterday to help this girl in a fiesta who had ended up on the pavement with a punctured tyre and severely buckled rim (too much speed going into the roundabout in the wet!). changed her wheel for the spare as she didn't have a clue and was very slightly shaken.

so i come back into the office and this guy comes down a little later on and asks if there is any damage, i tell him it is very slight, just a dink, and he gives me his card and tells me to get it quoted up and let him know.

so..........what do i do, go get some quotes for a respray/quick fix, or forget about it and let this thing bug me every time i look at it!

OVER TO YOU FOLKS!! (with a spoons style poll!)

EDIT: You can see the protruding dink in the pics below (if you look really hard). what you can't see is some very minor scratches going up the bumper to this dink, due to his bumper that was covered in cr@p! but i'm sure these will polish out. it's purely that it breaks the line of the bumper and hence makes it very noticeable to me.

I'll be the first then in this Spoons style poll..

I'd get a quote for the job and send him the bill....

    or

Get a quote, tell him you'll accept half in cash and go buy yourself something nice !!

    Send him the bill....

and while your at it, send him some 'driving course' leaflets or flyers for parking sensors..

You know it'll only bug you, and the type of damage you describe will only P you off after getting the other bits done last week..

Stuff him Harry, just put the bill in.. it's his fault anyway..

If you tell him you want it doing now - he'll have to pay.

If you leave it 4 weeks then decide, chances are he'll wriggle out of it.

    HTH.

Edit - you may want it checked underneath anyway just incase any clips have broken.

Yep, as above. Get ChipsAway type people to have a look and see what they can do. If they can't do anything then it'll be a dealer job. Either way get it sorted to how it was and get him to pay for it - either directly or through his insurance.

I'd be staright ito a bodyshop just because of the sheer audacity of the fellow. Sounds like he doesn't care one way or the other. Get them to quote for the repair and a like for like replacement car while it is in for the job. Get the body shop to quote for an i500 bumper replacement.

Get him to pay for it....might as well include the cost of a new screw for your number plate too!
