    Default Rear Wiper Fault

    Hi again guys,

Seem as if i'm posting nothing but problems on here... I guess its what you get for buying a 8 year old car lol

I'm gradually working through the problems i've got, nothing major, just little bits which go a long way!

I'm having problems with my Rear Wiper. When I push the stalk back, I can hear the pump/motor turning but with no movement from the wiper and water coming out the washer.

I have checked the wiring from body to boot lid, and no signs of broken wires. One by one I gave the wires a bit of a pull and they weren't stretching which is good indication that non of the wires had broken.

I have checked the fuse for the wiper and that is fine, even swapped it for a fresh one and no joy. Before I go down the route of changing the motor... does the wiper have a relay I can check and if so where is it located?

As for the washer Jet, no water coming out at all... not even spurting out a small amount! Hopefully it isnt going to rain at the weekend, so I'm hoping to get a small needle and try and push this through the holes to make sure it isnt blocked... other than this, What else do I need to check?

    Really appreciate your help!

    Lew

Disconnect the hose to the rear washer from the pump (on the washer bottle) then try the stalk- if water comes out then you know the pump is fine, and it's a blockage in the pipe that runs to the back of the car. If this is the case, pull the jet out of the aerial base and out of the hose. Then try blowing down the hose (from the front of the car) to see if it's clear. If not, use compressed air (bike pump will work) to try to clear it.

Before you condemn the wiper motor, use a voltmeter at it's connector to see if it's getting power.
