Default Red Battery Light: Suspected Failed Alternator - DIY or Garage?

    Evening all,

Today the battery warning lit up on the dash and I was looking at horror stories of a 500 quid repair at a local dealer or independent garage.

However, looking around, reconditioned parts appear to be about £100-125 and I'm wondering if its an achievable DIY repair. Anyone had a go at this on a 1.9 CDTI 150? Any disassembly notes or specialist tools required?

NB. The car is a 2007 1.9 CDTI 150 Design Hatch, it's done 153K so I suppose the alternator has lasted a fair while.

You were lucky! I just had to change mine at 52k!

Perfectly simple to do yourself, follow haynes is probably best instruction!
