Okay, now I am REALY pi55ed off!! Also reckon may well be needing Plasma's thread on recovering bank charges.
I get paid on Wednesday, and having just been online, have realised that, due to an 'administrative error' (i.e. I can't add up ) that as of close of business tomorrow night I shall be the mind blowing sum of 16p overdrawn.
Because I am a good girl, and try to avoid this, I am more than happy to run down to the bank and deposit the offending amount into the bank today and prevent aforesaid economical disaster, courtesy of my piggy bank.
However, I decided I would call the bank anyway and see how the land lies, explain the getting paid the following day scenario, and see if they are as friendly a bunch as they lead me to believe in all the paperwork that falls through my letterbox.
Conversation goes like this:
Me: I am ever so sorry, I have realised that I shall be briefly overdrawn, by 16p the night before my wages go into my account. I do apologise, I am just calling to see what the financial implications are of this.
Bank Lady: Well, you will be charged £25 for going overdrawn, and an additional £35 for any payments which are not honoured due to you being overdrawn.
Me: Honestly? For the sake of 16p??
Bank Lady: Yes, it is our policy.
Well, bu99er me!!!!! Fortunately nothing else goes out till after I get paid, so no great disaster - but she then tells me that she can actually see my wages on their way in at the moment, but would still charge me for going over!!!!!!!
Is it just me, or is this completely batty?!?!
Off to bank to deposit exactly 16p into the bank. Well, it's the principle!!!! )
